While we are currently unable to present in-house Artist Talks, we are pleased to be able to continue with this Retro Travelogue Series in our corridor gallery.
This Extraordinary World: A travel retrospective by Janet and Randy Googe
"Man on a Mission"
The Mesquite Flat Sand Dune Field is the largest dune field in Death Valley National Park. This dune field includes three types of dunes: crescent, linear, and star shaped. Poylgon-cracked clay of an ancient lakebed forms the floor. Mesquite trees have created large hummocks that provide stable habitats for wildlife. The sand dunes can be viewed from the parking area, but are also open to cross country hiking when the temperature allows. Sunrise and the sunset are the best times to visit for fantastic contrast on the dunes as the surrounding mountains turn pink from the sun’s rays.
