Getting Your Library Card

To register for a library card online, please visit our Online Library Card Registration page. Note - these cards are intended for patrons 12 years old or older. If you are younger than 12 years old you will need a parent/guardian to come to the library and sign for your card.

A Belleville Public Library card is free to all who live, attend school, or own property in the City of Belleville or the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, Hastings County, upon presentation of personal identification showing current address.

Acceptable ID:

-Driver's Licence (shows photo and name & address)

-If you do not have a Driver's Licence you will have to show two (2) pieces of ID: one with your name on it (i.e. birth certificate, health card, passport etc.) and the other with your name & address on it (a recent utility bill, a commercial receipt etc.)

This card gives access to the shared physical collections of Belleville Public Library and Quinte West Public Library, collectively called the Hastinet Cooperative, as well as the digital collections of Belleville Public Library.

Children reaching the age of 12 may apply for their own library cards. For children under 12, a parent or guardian must register in person on his or her behalf and accept responsibility for fines and damaged or lost items.

Membership is updated every two (2) years. At that time, cards will expire and need to be updated - the member’s name, address and telephone number will need to be verified by staff. The Library may require that any outstanding charges be paid in order to renew the Library card.

The Library offers membership to non-residents of the City of Belleville or the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory for an annual fee of $60.00 per card or $20.00 for three months.

The replacement fee for a lost library card is $1.00.
