Teen Volunteer Program
At Belleville Public Library, we are happy to help secondary school students obtain their community hours. We try to accommodate as many teens as we can in helping them expand their professional experience through community aid. All teen volunteers will need to show proof of vaccination.
Primarily, as a student volunteering in the library, you will be assisting in keeping the library neat and organized for our patrons by shelf-reading. This involves making sure the books are kept in both alphabetical and numerical order. Sometimes, volunteers may be asked to help out with preparing craft materials for our children’s programs, or even on a Saturday, actually helping to run a program.
New! We have recently started a Tiktok channel at the library. We would love to get your help with producing content. Ideas for future videos are discussed at Teen Advisory Meetings.
Before you may begin volunteering in the library, you MUST attend both a group and individual training session. Both these training session and any other time you spend volunteering at the library will count towards your community service hours.
Once you have attended our training sessions, we can schedule you to volunteer on weekday evenings and Saturdays that will work for you and for our library staff. Typically, a volunteer shift is 2 hours per day.
We currently do not have any upcoming training sessions. Please check back in a couple of months.
