Budgeting for the Holidays

Thursday, November 18 at 3:00pm

Many of us who celebrate the holidays in December experience the feelings of dread, guilt and frustration in January as we anticipate our credit card bill.  We wonder how we could have spent all of that money for a one-day celebration and feel bad for beginning the year off in debt.

The good news is there’s another option!  In the webinar led by The Credit Counselling Society, you will learn how to:

  • Identify how you want to feel in the January following the winter holidays;
  • Be specific with your goal for next January in terms of your energy, family and friends, gifts, and finances;
  • Recognize the obstacles that may get in your way like expectations, your budget, and even family and friends;
  • Discover what supports are available to you so you can achieve your goal of feeling a certain way in January;
  • Create the plan including:
    • Determining the total cost of the holiday season taking into account the cost of gifts, food, travel, entertainment, decorations, babysitters, and any extras;
    • Setting up reminders to stay on track, and
    • Work from January to December on specific tasks so that you’re not feeling overwhelmed at Christmas.

There is plenty of sharing amongst participants on how to save money during the holidays.  The webinar is 1 hour, interactive and even fun!
