Tuesday Painting Workshops with Rachel Harbour - FULL
"Our Own Great Wave", acrylic, 9x12", April 16 - This class is FULL
In 1830, the Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai began work on a series of woodblock prints entitled "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" which were depictions of the sacred mountain from different directions, and in different settings. "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" is the best known of this series, and makes beautiful use of the Prussian Blue pigment newly available to Hokusai. Using that blue as the focus of a limited palette, and employing a modern trick or two, we will create our own version of this famous, influential, piece.
