Teen Volunteer Program

At Belleville Public Library, we are happy to help secondary school students obtain their community hours. We try to accommodate as many teens as we can in helping them expand their professional experience through community aid.

Tasks

Primarily, as a student volunteering in the library, you will be assisting in keeping the library neat and organized for our patrons by shelf-reading.  This involves making sure the books are kept in both alphabetical and numerical order.  Sometimes, volunteers may be asked to help out with preparing craft materials for our children’s programs, or even on a Saturday, actually helping to run a program.

New Volunteer Opportunity! Teen Volunteer Artists

Calling all artists! Submit your uniquely hand or computer drawn colouring sheets to earn volunteer hours. Learn more here: Teen Volunteer Artists

Training Sessions

Before you may begin volunteering in the library, you MUST attend both a group and individual training session.  Training sessions are an opportunity for you to learn more about teen volunteer tasks and for library staff to get to know you and evaluate if volunteering at the library is the right fit for you. Both the group and individual training sessions and any other time you spend volunteering at the library will count towards your community service hours.

Schedule

Once you have successfully completed the training sessions we can schedule you to volunteer on weekday evenings and Saturdays that will work for you and for our library staff. Typically, a volunteer shift is 2 hours per day.

Upcoming Group Training Sessions

Our current sessions are all full. Please check back here for future training session dates.
