The Belleville Public Library and John M. Parrott Art Gallery is pleased to be part of the 6th Annual Belleville Downtown DocFest!
Purchase your DocFest pass today for only $50. Passes provide admission to 3 days of outstanding documentaries including the Friday night Opening Gala film and live musical performance! The 6th annual DocFest happens Mar. 3, 4 & 5, 2017.
The Gala features the outstanding film, The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. New York Times critic Ken Jaworowski, wrote that while the documentary, “… is lovely to watch, it’s even more beautiful to hear.” Yo-Yo Ma assembled the Silk Road Ensemble, a collective of some 50 musicians and artists from across the globe, with the goal of inspiring and creating cross-cultural connectivity.
The award-winning, Denielle Bassels and The MacDaddy’s will perform following the Gala film. This dynamic Toronto based quintet merges the swinging carefree sounds of 20's, 30's sultry gypsy and swing with blues and neo-soul. Bassels is a rising star in Toronto and her stellar vocals have been compared to Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones.
DocFest screens over 50 documentaries in 4 convenient downtown Belleville venues: The Empire Theatre, the CORE Centre, the Belleville Public Library and the Pinnacle Playhouse.
Our thanks to Pretsell Davies Thompson Benton LLP for their sponsorship of the Opening Gala. We also gratefully acknowledge support from the Ontario Arts Council and the City of Belleville. And a big thanks to all of you who have embraced the Festival.
